The seventh issue of the World's Wildlife Series is dedicated to the Lion (Panthera Leo). The coin set of 1.85 ounces of gold contains four gold coins ranging from a 1/10 - 1 ounce, showing different depictions of a lion. At the edge of all gold coins are the inscriptions "THE LION" and "WORLD'S WILDLIFE". The reverse features the coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The lion is one of the largest and most important land predators in the world and symbolizes the African animal kingdom. The impressive lion roar can be heard up to 8 kilometers away and is used for communication within the pride members. In the wild, the lion can live to be over 20 years old - but the threat from poachers is still very high today.
