          Description

During World War II, the SS Tilawa set sail from Bombay, India, bound for Durban, South Africa. However, the ship never reached its destination, as it was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine, sinking in the Indian Ocean. Tragically, many lives were lost, and 2,364 silver bars were sent to the ocean floor. In 2017, a salvage team recovered 60 tons of this shipwrecked silver, stirring discussions about the recovery effort. Right now, 1 Kilo S.S. Tilawa Shipwreck Silver Bars are available at BullionMax.

For anyone interested in owning a piece of history, the SS Tilawa Shipwreck Salvage Silver Series offers a unique opportunity. The ship was operated by the British India Steam Navigation Company and was carrying 60 tons of silver bullion when it was sunk on November 23, 1942. The silver was recovered in 2017 and has been refined into new bars, rounds, and grain, all commemorating the ship’s story and its recovery from the ocean depths.

The obverse side of these S.S. Tilawa Shipwreck Silver Bars displays an emblem dedicated to the S.S. Tilawa. The design includes a circular seal featuring a silhouette of the ship, with stylized water beneath and anchors on either side. A wave-like texture fills the background.

On the reverse 1 Kilo S.S. Tilawa Shipwreck Silver Bars, the S.S. Tilawa is shown at sea, with rippling water in the background. The ship’s name and the date it was sunk are also featured on this side, making it a beautiful tribute to its story.
